What brands are good for winter clothing?

Im moving to Chicago this fall for University from Las Vegas (BIG TEMP DIFFERENCES IM SURE) and I really am in desperate need for some winter apparel, but I don't want like chunky garments. Just for an idea of the style I like, I shop at both American Apparel and Urban Outfitters, but I don't think i want to buy winter clothes from them.
