Need help with writing a murder mystery( red herrings)?

Maybe something as simple as someone being interrogated about the crime and then when the detective leaves have the person tell someone, "Oh, I'm so nervous...so frightened...how did I do under the questioning?" "You did fine, sweetie...just fine." and have one or both of them coldly stare at the retreating figure of the police/detective.
